Clos de Luz is a relatively new and very small winery located in Almahue Valley known as the birthplace of Chilean Carménère. Gabriel Edwards the owner and winemaker named the winery after her grandmother Luz who planted the vineyard in 1945 thus has one of the oldest Carménère in Chile and probably in the world. Viticulture is natural with manual harvest. He also grows high quality Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec, Garnacha and Syrah which are all fermented with indigenous yeast with no additions to the wines except a small level of sulfites. Gabriel wines are unadulterated, elegant, and have fresh acidity and balance.
