Soalheiro is a pioneer producer in the sub-region of Monção and Melgaço in the lush Vinho Verde that was established in 1982 by João António Cerdeira. This area is Portugal’s northernmost point and is circulated by a range of mountains. In this land of special microclimate and granitic slope, the Alvarinho receives ample sunlight and cool breeze from the sea mountain range to ripen. Viticulture is certified organic and is practicing bio-dynamic. It is now run by the second generation winemaker Luis Cerdeira who boasts a plentitude of style for this variety. He works with low yield and old vines. Each wine is detailed, mineral driven, so fresh and so clean.
